Watch a Dog Settle a Court Case On An Episode of “Judge Judy”

Justice is blind… but it has a tremendous sense of smell.

A clip from a recent episode of Judge Judy is going viral, showing the titular Judge Judith Sheindlin acting all 'King Solomon' and leaving it to a dog to solve her court case.

In brief: A woman is arguing she legally purchased the dog, but that’s being contested by a man, who claims to be the original owner.

Judge Judy—putting fifty years of expertise in the legal profession to work—knew there was only one way to solve this howler of a case: Put the dog on the floor and watch it run to its favourite human.

The results will shock you. (Okay, maybe not shock you, but you will find it adorable.)

It’s worth remembering that televised court proceedings aren’t legally binding; they’re basically “arbitration”, offering people the opportunity to see how their case would play out should they sneak their petty arguments into small claims court.
