Upcoming "Assassin's Creed Odyssey" Might Give You the Chance to Play as a Woman

Follow Assassin's Creed as they take the game into Ancient Greece.

While there's certainly been no shortage of Assassin's Creed titles in the last decade, the reveal of Ubisoft's latest addition to the franchise is getting the fandom excited.

According to a leak uncovered by French site JeuxVideoLive, the story for Assassin's Creed Odyssey will be related to last year's Assassin's Creed Origins, which was set in Ancient Egypt and followed the adventures of Bayek.

The stars of this game, however, won't be Bayek or his wife, Aya, but instead new faces with some hinting that it's actually a prequel to Origins and set in Ancient Greece.

According to the leakers, the title will be even more of a departure from the series than last year's release with a stronger focus on expanding those new RPG (role-playing game) elements even further.

This means choosing which gender you'd like your assassin to be (a breakthrough for the game) and looking to more of the other classic traits of RPG games seen in The Witcher series like dialogue options.

While it wouldn't be the first time that an Assassin's Creed title features the option to play as a female assassin (see: Assassin's Creed III: Liberation and Assassin's Creed Chronicles), it would certainly be the first full release to give you the option.

At this stage, Ubisoft has not confirmed whether all the details of the leak are legitimate or not, but they have released a five-second teaser which appears to show one Ancient Greek soldier (maybe Spartan?) kicking another one off a cliff.

So, if the rumours are believed to be true, expect to see Odyssey hitting store shelves around March 2019.
