UK Boys Are Protesting Their School’s Strict “No-Shorts” Policy by Wearing Skirts

Our mates over in the United Kingdom are facing a heatwave right now.

While the heatwave is pretty mild by Australian standards, it's causing a whole lotta strife in the U.K. So much so, in the south-west city of Exter, the boys of Isca Academy are protesting their school’s strict uniform policy.

Despite the unusually warm weather for the region, the school enforces a no-shorts policy, meaning that while the girls at the school have the option to wear long pants or skirts, the boys have to stick to long pants.

So, the boys protested the best way they could. They borrowed their sisters' and friends' skirts and wore them instead of the long pants.

One of the boys' mothers told Devon Live she thought it was unfair that boys weren't allowed to wear cool, refreshing shorts.

"Boys just don’t have the option, and I am just really concerned about how the heat is going to affect him," she said.

The school allegedly told her that they would put her son in isolation if he showed up in shorts.

Initially, only five boys showed up to school in skirts, with one of the boys being told to change into pants because his legs were "too hairy".

By the next day, more than 50 boys had come to school in skirts.

The boys have said they will continue to wear the skirts until Isca Academy changes their uniform policy.
