Tinker Tailor Dolphin Spy: Secret Agent Dolphin Reportedly Arrested For Espionage

A dolphin has apparently been arrested for espionage. We repeat: a dolphin has apparently been arrested for espionage.

According to RT, Palestinian Islamist organisation Hamas recently captured a dolphin decked out with “spying accessories” including cameras and even a potentially lethal dart gun.

(You would be forgiven, at this point, for thinking that the prophecy outlined in 1973’s The Day of the Dolphin - in which the titular animals are trained to conduct a presidential assassination – had finally come to pass.)

Insiders reportedly told Palestinian daily Al-Quds (shared by The Jerusalem Post) that the dolphin was tasked by Israel to collect video of Hamas military training.

The Ethan Hunt-like dolphin was captured after Hamas commandos noted “suspicious movements” in the water.

It wouldn’t be the first time dolphins were used in military strategy (they were deployed as naval minesweepers for America). Israel's intelligence agency, the Mossad, has also been accused of using vultures, remote-controlled sharks and a stork for operations over the years.

However, Hamas has not provided an official account of the incident nor are there any photographs to back-up the claim. The fate of the dolphin remains unknown… for now.
