TikTok of the Week: It’s Black Friday So I Feel This Shopping Joke on a Spiritual Level

I'm looking after myself.

It’s that time again! Welcome to the third installment of TikTok of the Week, where we highlight our favourite original TikTok from the past seven days (and give out a few honourable mentions as well).

If you haven’t been here before, we break down our best TikTok picks for you because the internet is a wonderful place, full of weird stuff that is just begging to be shared.

If you missed last week’s TikTok breakdown on The Big W scandal, you can catch up here.

So, without further ado, here are the videos that got us giggling the most this week.

This week’s winner is…

TikTok user @jroconnor13 posted a video telling users to just buy whatever they want, because you can be broke when you’re dead.

Not wrong.

This one was technically posted earlier in the month, but it showed up on our fyp this week, so we’re giving it a pass.

Because today is Black Friday, it seems more than fitting to encourage those around you to throw away all their dollars on some great deals (not that it takes much convincing).

Connor captioned the video, "Me making this to justify spending hundreds of dollars on clothes every week even tho I wear the same Nike hoodie every day". Wow, do I relate to that.

TikTok user @avakaja also posted a delightfully similar video last week to the tune of "California Dreaming" by The Mamas & the Papas.

In this joke she refers to how when you’re offered self-care advice, you’re sometimes told to buy yourself something… only that’s all she seems to hear, and honestly, same.

She captions the video with a bunch of little, cute stars (soz I don’t think the source code can handle it) and the words "retail therapy".

I’m gonna go ahead and guess that she’s just a self-care queen and take her advice tbh.

Basically, I’m sure most of us have fallen victim to at least one Black Friday deal, so please join me in making myself feel better with videos like these.

Also, if you’re looking to snag a good deal I reckon you should check out the Edge Fest deals right here at Student Edge (pls excuse the cheeky plug).

If this kind of content about shopping isn’t your fave because well… the environment, you can also shop with sustainable, eco, ethical and organic brands who have some sales going this weekend.

Our honourable mentions go to…

Sure, there can only be one winner but why not give a shout out to some other creators that have blessed our eyes this week.

Firstly, the one and only Hank Green (@hankgreen1) responded to a video posted by user @sean_hunter_ asking why you cant put metal in the microwave when the inside of the microwave is literally made from metal.

Thankfully, Hank explains some sciencey stuff about how microwaves bounce (idk I can’t explain it) so basically the metal it’s made of is fine, but any added is a no, no.

And our final shout-out goes out to the legends here at Student Edge for some more relatable student content on group work, which is something no one is a fan of.
