Three Melbourne Vloggers Have Been Fined After Breaching Curfew for a Maccas Run

They filmed themselves dancing in the restaurant.

With the number of confirmed coronavirus cases continuing to increase in Victoria, Stage 4 restrictions have been introduced across metropolitan Melbourne to curb the spread of the virus.

Under Stage 4 restrictions, there's a curfew on Melbourne residents between 8pm and 5am. During those hours, people can only leave their homes for work, essential health care or caregiving.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews announced that police officers would monitor traffic leaving metropolitan Melbourne, and officers would also enforce restrictions within the city.

In fact, any individual caught breaking the rules could be issued a fine of up to $1,652.

Well, three Melbourne vloggers have found themselves smacked with fines after posting a video of themselves breaching curfew rules for a McDonald's run.

As reported by the ABC, the group filmed themselves walking around the Melbourne CBD at around 2.30am on Sunday, before entering a nearby Maccas.

The video, which was uploaded on the social media platform Weibo, showed two of the individuals dancing in the restaurant.

Soon after uploading the footage, the vloggers received a whole heap of backlash online, with commenters pointing out that their actions were "irresponsible".

The criticism forced the group to delete the video from Weibo. They also released a public apology, saying they would turn themselves in to authorities.

Victoria Police confirmed to the ABC that each of the vloggers was fined $1,652 earlier this week for breaching chief health officer directives.

There were 410 new cases of coronaviruses detected in Victoria over the last 24 hours.
