PSA: Uber Eats Is Still Delivering in Melbourne, But Here's How to Do It

Get that food delivered safely.

The Victorian government has introduced Stage 4 restrictions across metropolitan Melbourne, and Stage 3 restrictions in regional Victoria to curb the spread of coronavirus.

With the new restrictions in place, there is now a curfew on Melbourne residents between the hours of 8pm and 5am, which aims to reduce the number of people leaving their homes and moving around.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has also announced that some businesses need to shut their doors, including the majority of the retail trade and personal services like hairdressers and nail salons.

On top of that, restaurants can only trade as takeaway and delivery businesses.

Of course, there was one very important question that we needed an answer for: Is Uber Eats still offering delivery services?

We reached out to an Uber Eats representative to confirm, and fortunately, the app is definitely still operating.

That means you'll still be able to grab a feed whenever those lockdown cravings hit.

In saying that, the pick-up option will be unavailable in metropolitan Melbourne daily from 7.45pm to 5am, so you'll need to opt for delivery between those hours.

However, there are a few safety reminders that you should keep in mind when ordering your next meal.

It's a smart idea to choose 'leave at door' delivery to maintain social distancing measures. This means that the person delivering your order will have zero contact with you, but you'll get a notification when your food has arrived.

You may even want to consider tipping your delivery partner, considering the hospitality industry has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Uber Eats representative also let us know that they're regularly sharing best safety practices from public health authorities with their restaurant and delivery partners.

Additionally, Uber Eats is working to provide their delivery partners with sanitising supplies, and they're offering financial assistance to Uber drivers in the event they're diagnosed with COVID-19.

Well, there you have it! Now go and choose which meal you want to devour next.

Oh, and if you're signing up to Uber Eats, remember Student Edge members get $12 off their first order for a limited time only!
