The Matildas are Back in Aus: Here’s Everything You Need to Know

The girlies are back in town and playing tonight⚽

It feels like just yesterday the Matildas won the longest penalty shootout in FIFA Women’s World Cup history against France, and in the process captured the nation’s hearts.

But after two months, the girls are back on home soil ready to tackle their next international challenge - the Olympic Qualifiers.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Matildas’ next run of games, and how you can continue to support the Australian women’s national soccer team.

Where and who are they playing?

We last saw the Matildas play back in August during the FIFA Women’s World Cup. And although they unfortunately lost to the English Lionesses, their fourth-place finish was still the best any Australian team had placed in a World Cup.

So after a *stunning* campaign, they are now back in Australia to play three matches in order to qualify for the Olympics.

If you’re in Perth and are furiously googling ‘Matildas tickets’, we’re sorry to tell you they’ve officially sold out.

Beginning tonight at HBF Park in Perth, the team will face off against Iran before versing the Philippines this Sunday, 29 October at Optus Stadium and then Chinese Taipei at HBF Park next Wednesday, 1 November.

Where can I watch?

If you don’t live in Perth (or just didn’t cop tix ) you can catch the games on 10 Bold in WA, QLD and the NT, and Channel 10 in all other states and territories. They are also available to be streamed on 10Play and Paramount+.

Keen to support the ‘Tillies? Here’s how you can.

Even if the Matildas do qualify for the Olympics, that’ll only roll around in July 2024.

Meanwhile, you can still support the Tillies by watching them play in their club football teams outside of Australia. Tillies captain Sam Kerr, for example, plays for Chelsea, while goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold plays for West Ham, and vice-captain Steph Catley plays for Arsenal.

Also you could totally BE the Matildas this Halloween by grabbing your mates and a Matildas jersey for a legendary group costume.
