The First Special Episode of “Euphoria” Has Arrived on Binge Early

You can watch it now.

The wait is over! In October, we were elated to find out that BINGE would be releasing two special episodes of Euphoria just in time for Christmas.

This was extra special news considering COVID had destroyed the possibility of Season 2 landing in 2020 (cry).

For those of us in Australia, the new episodes were originally going to be available to stream on BINGE from 7 December.

However, it seems like HBO (and BINGE) were feeling generous ‘cos they’ve decided to give us Part 1 of the special three days early!

It landed on the streaming service at 4pm AEDT, so you can go and watch it right now if you're a BINGE subscriber. (Affiliate disclosure: Student Edge may earn a commission if you click that link and buy a product from our partner's page.)

The 50-second trailer features Rue in a diner thinking things through while she’s waiting for someone to join her. It's all very brooding and mysterious.

*Spoilers for Euphoria S1 below.*

The episode titled "Trouble Don't Always Last (Part 1: Rue)", follows Zendaya’s character, Rue, as she tries to celebrate Christmas, following the aftermath of relapsing and being left by Jules (Hunter Schafer) at the train station in Season 1.

*End of spoilers.*

Since the episode has aired, some fans have commented on one specific artistic choice that the filmmakers have made for the episode.

The majority of the episode seems to take place in the diner and focuses on the conversation between Rue and Ali (Colman Domingo).

Some fans believe that the stylistic choice by director Sam Levinson is a smart and elegant way to capture the episode, while others are a tad bored.

so... they gon be in this diner the whole time ??? #Euphoria pic.twitter.com/4WcnivySmu

If you’ve missed Season 1, Euphoria tells the confronting story of a group of high school students discovering their identities, finding love, loss, friendship and experiencing sex, trauma, social media and drugs.

To say the series has been popular and controversial would be an understatement.

We still don’t know exactly when the second episode will be released yet, however, it is set to premiere sometime early next year, just before Season 2 begins production.

Yep, that’s right. Season 2 is officially happening (again).
