There’s been plenty happening in the book world lately. Sarah J. Maas fans found themselves divided over newly revealed cover designs, Veronica Roth announced a surprise return to the Divergent universe, and Rebecca Yarros' Fourth Wing adaptation continued its journey from page to screen.

Sarah J. Maas fans have been sharing theories after the bestselling author revealed the titles and covers of the sixth and seventh books in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series: A Court of Splintered Harmony (out on 27 October 2026) and A Court of Forgotten Melody (out on 12 January 2027).

But while the announcement itself was exciting, the covers quickly became the biggest talking point.

Both books feature bold gradient colour schemes, marking a noticeable departure from the visual style readers have come to associate with the series. A Court of Splintered Harmony transitions from pink to yellow, while A Court of Forgotten Melody shifts from yellow to green.

Naturally, fan theories have already begun circulating.

Some readers believe the connected colour palettes suggest the books will tell one continuous story, while others speculate they hint at a larger multiverse-style event within the Maas universe. Another popular theory points to the sunset-inspired colours, with fans wondering whether the long-lost Dusk Court could finally take centre stage.

Whether any of these theories prove true remains to be seen.

The dystopian revival continues with new Divergent books.

Veronica Roth recently announced a brand-new Divergent duology, with the first instalment, The Sixth Faction, set for release on 13 October 2026.

The novel revisits the world of Divergent through an alternate timeline, imagining what might have happened if Tris Prior's Choosing Ceremony had been interrupted and she was forced to make a very different choice.

For longtime fans, there's even more good news. The synopsis confirms Four will play a significant role in the story, reuniting readers with one of the franchise's most beloved characters.

Fourth Wing takes another step towards the screen.

Rebecca Yarros' bestselling romantasy phenomenon Fourth Wing is officially moving ahead at Prime Video.

Meredith Averill, known for The Haunting of Hill House and Locke & Key, will serve as showrunner and executive producer, while Yarros will also serve as an executive producer on the adaptation.

For anyone yet to discover the series, Fourth Wing follows 20-year-old Violet Sorrengail, who is forced to enter Basgiath War College, where aspiring dragon riders face deadly challenges in pursuit of survival and power.

While casting announcements are still under wraps, anticipation continues to build among fans eager to see who will bring Violet, Xaden and the dragons to life.

And that's not the only Fourth Wing adaptation on the horizon.

A graphic novel version of the bestselling romantasy hit is also in development, giving readers another exciting way to experience the story while they wait for the television series to arrive. The novel is expected to be released in early 2027.

Lastly, if you’re eagerly anticipating more from the Fourth Wing world, don’t forget Threshing Day, the next instalment in the Empyrean series, will be released on 29 September 2026. The book features 13 stories focused on fan-favourite characters and their dragons.
