“Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” Concert Film Premiere Weekend Was Just as Wild as You’d Expect

Moviegoers really said baby I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake 💃🏼
As if Queen Taylor Swift hasn’t done enough this year, fellow Swifties all but ran to cinemas last week to get their first glimpse of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie.
Aussie fans who missed out on tickets to her highly anticipated Eras Tour were in luck as the star announced her concert film earlier this year.

And in true Swiftie fashion, fans were prepped and ready to consume all things T-Swift when the movie premiered in cinemas last Friday, 13 October.
Here’s everything that happened during the opening weekend of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film.
It’s already broken box office records.
Tay Tay produced and financed the film herself for $US15 million. Less than a week since its premiere and it’s already the highest opening for a concert film of all time.

It’s also the fifth biggest movie opening of the year thus far. According to US distributor AMC Theatres, the film brought in $US92.8 million in ticket sales just over its three-day debut. For context, the biggest opening of the year - the Barbie movie - brought in $US162 million over its three-day weekend debut.
Is there anything she can’t do?!
The friendship bracelets were out in full force.
If you secured tickets for the star’s in 2024, you’ll probably know how important making friendship bracelets has become.
Inspired by Swift’s track “You’re On Your Own, Kid” on her Midnights album, fans have been making colourful, beaded friendship bracelets to trade with other concertgoers. And movie attendees did the same at her film’s premiere too!
Some hardcore-Swifties even drew the number 13 on their hands in permanent marker in reference to Swift’s ‘Fearless Era’ where she wrote a blue 13 on her guitar-strumming hand for good luck.
Swifties started mini mosh-pits of their own.
Who needs a concert to have fun with their friends in a mosh pit? Defs not the Swifties who were out of their seats, singing, dancing and even using their phone flashlights to wave in the air.
One screening in Sydney had the majority of the fully packed cinema on their feet singing to “Blank Space”.
Across the globe, other Swifties were just as excited. An entire movie theatre of fans in the Philippines waved lights during the movie performance of “Cruel Summer”.
While not everyone was a fan of the singing and dancing, we can’t help but think it’s all part of the sense of belonging the Swiftie community creates.

The opening weekend may be over, but fans can still grab tickets to watch Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour through HOYTS. Fans can even purchase some Taylor Swift merch from HOYTS cinemas.
In the words of T-Swift herself, “make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it.”
