A Melbourne Swiftie Tells Us What to Expect Ahead of Taylor Swift’s Eras Concert in Sydney

IT’S HAPPENING, EVERYBODY STAY CALM

It feels like just yesterday Taylor Swift announced she was bringing her Eras Tour down under. There was a flurry of emotion: some of you were elated because you got tickets, some of you were distraught because you didn’t get them (we understand).

But now the moment is finally here. The Eras Concert Tour has arrived.

The Melbourne weekend has come and gone but the four day Sydney concert weekend is coming up.

For you Sydney concertgoers, we asked Melbourne concert-goer, self-confessed super fan and Management and Gender Studies student, Skyler Boyd, about what to expect from the Eras Tour.

Expect crazy traffic.

This one might be a given, but if you’re expecting to get to the Eras Tour Concert quickly, lower your expectations.

Although Sydney will be different compared to Melbourne, it’s best to leave earlier rather than later. Skyler’s biggest piece of advice, avoid using Uber or rideshare.

“We ubered at about 5pm from a hotel 3km away from the stadium [MCG] and literally didn’t get there until 6pm,” she told Student Edge.

“Our Uber dropped us at 5:45pm and then we had to walk 15 minutes because of the closed roads.

“Defs take public transport.”

Shake it off because the stadium will be full.

There were over 96,000 people who attended one of Taylor’s concerts in Melbourne. And we can only guess there will be just as many, if not more at Sydney’s Olympic Stadium on the weekend.

So leave yourself enough time to arrive at the stadium and find your seat.

Skyler told us after getting to the MCG it was crazy busy.

“Add at least 10 minutes [to] navigate to your seats,” she said.

“We only just made it in time for Sabrina [Carpenter].”

Also, a good thing to keep in mind is timing your toilet breaks. There are going to be thousands of people and only a handful of toilets.

There’s a good chance everyone will try and go in between the opening act, Sabrina Carpenter and Taylor, so pick a good time so you’re not waiting long.

The outfits will be on point.

If you don’t know by now, the outfits will be out of this world.

When we asked Skyler which ‘fits were the best, she replied with “apart from mine you mean?”

“It was an amazing concert for costumes and inspired looks,” she said.

“Some girls near us had mega-sized friendship bracelets as sashes which I hadn’t seen before so that was adorable.”

Sparks will fly because the atmosphere is amazing.

If there’s one thing we stan more than anything is how Taylor Swift has become a way for people to make new friends and meet new people.

If you haven’t already, make a few friendship bracelets to trade because this is something Skyler said was heartwarming.

“The trading bracelets aspect really encouraged you to talk to people around you,” she said.

“We were on the floor and it just felt like one big party. Sabrina got everyone excited and the pre-songs were all so good.

“People were swapping cameras and hyping each other up – no judgement at all just friendship vibes which was so good.”

Agh our hearts!

How to stay comfy.

Logistically there are some things you can do to make your night as breezy as possible.

The first: wear comfortable shoes.

If you plan on wearing boots with or without a heel, Skyler suggests double socking (wearing two pairs of socks), or sticking gel inserts inside to make them more comfortable.

Overall Skyler’s message to Sydney concertgoers was “it was a fantastic concert and I enjoyed every second!”

We hope you have the best time Sydney!
