Taylor Swift Breaks Her Silence in the Trailer for Netflix’s "Miss Americana"

Haters gonna hate.

The trailer for Taylor Swift's new Netflix documentary Miss Americana is finally here, and it seems as if we’re going to get some insight into what the singer-songwriter’s world is actually like.

While it can be easy for pop star documentaries to turn into puff pieces, if the trailer is anything to go by, it looks like this will be a raw representation of a difficult period in Swift's life.

Swift has generally been reluctant to share personal details about her life with the press. At the beginning of the trailer, the singer explains that label executives told her, "A nice girl doesn't force their opinions on people."

Throughout the rest of the two-minute trailer, we get a taste of the media scrutiny the star has endured, and how she's had to "deconstruct an entire belief system" as a result.

The doc, helmed by Emmy-winner Lana Wilson, is undoubtedly going to deal with a challenging time in the singer's life, but will also follow Swift's transformation into an empowered woman.

"It woke me up from constantly feeling like I was fighting for people's respect," she tells the cameras.

As revealed in a recent Variety interview with Swift, the documentary will show the singer's reaction to learning her album Reputation didn't receive a Grammy nomination.

Additionally, it will dive into the star making her political stance known to the public.

It won't, however, feature any footage surrounding Swift's conflict with Scooter Braun over the ownership of her masters.

Although, it looks like there's some fun moments to be had as well. For instance, there's a scene where Swift sings "ME!" with Brendon Urie, and puts a pair of light-up shoes on. There's also a glimpse of the singer hugging her boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, who she's dated for three years.

Miss Americana will premiere as the opening night movie at Sundance Film Festival, so we'll get to hear what critics think over the next couple of days.

You'll be able to stream the documentary on Netflix on 31 January.
