OMG: Tasmania Are Offering $300 Travel Vouchers to WA, SA and QLD Residents

Out of my way, those vouchers are mine!

Pack your bags and a warm jacket ‘cos today the Tasmanian government announced they’re slinging away holiday vouchers worth $300 to boost the state’s tourism sector.

There are 10,000 vouchers up for grabs, but they are only available to WA, SA and QLD residents (sorry VIC and NSW).

Of course, there is gonna be some high demand for what is essentially $300 cash savings, so to get your hands on one of the 10,000 vouchers you’ll need to enter the online ballot and hope that you’re one of the lucky few who snags one.

If you’re wondering if there is any catch to this giveaway, there is (but it’s not a bad one). $200 of the tourism voucher needs to be spent on accommodation and the final $100 can be used on attractions or tours.

Aside from that, lucky winners will also need to use their voucher during November or December, but hey, any excuse to get on a plane is a good one, right? It’s basically overseas travel anyway.

The Tassie government says that the $3 million tourism initiative is set to bring $25 million into the state. Not a bad return on investment, aye?

Speaking about the vouchers, Tourism Minister Sarah Courtney said it’s all about letting Australia know they’re still here and is the perfect place to visit now that almost 80 per cent of the country is vaxxed against COVID-19.

“This voucher program will bring attention to our spectacular products and destinations to encourage visitation," Courtney said.

Now, we know what you’re thinking, and the answer is no, Tassie is no longer the lightning rod state for jokes.

In fact, the little island state off Australia’s south coast has been steadily climbing the ranks of Australia’s favourite tourist destination thanks to its breathtaking scenery and incredible food industry.

Before entering the ballot and booking that flight to Tassie, consider your options on getting back into your state if there is another COVID-19 outbreak and whether or not vaccination status will play a role in your ability to travel around the country.
