A Super Nintendo World is Opening in Hollywood—Here’s Why It Should Be On Your Bucket List

This is Super for Mario fans.

It’s official. A Super Nintendo World is hitting American shores, meaning there’s a new location you can add to your bucket list.

The theme park will be open to the public in Universal Studios Hollywood from 17 February 2023. It’s the second Super Nintendo World to open, with the OG located at Universal Studios Japan.

And there’s a lot to get psyched up for.

In true Mario-style, you enter the park through a green pipe.

From the moment you enter the Mushroom Kingdom, you’re immersed in the world of Super Mario.

A green pipe will take you on a nostalgia trip into the uber-colourful, 8-bit world that Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and other iconic characters call home.

The whole theme park is interactive.

Upon entering Super Nintendo World, you have the option to purchase an interactive ‘power-up’ wristband.

This nifty little device syncs with the Universal Studios app to gamify the whole Super Nintendo World experience.

It’ll keep score of various challenges you complete in the park and unlock new missions. Here’s a look at the interactive experience at the park in Japan:

The Toadstool Café looks to die for.

Look, theme Park food can be iffy. It’s often overpriced and not all that good.

But we have high hopes for the menu at The Toadstool Café. We can only base this off the menu that’s been revealed, and the food at the Japan park, but like—we’re already salivating?

Treats at the Toadstool Café will include the Toadstool Cheesy Garlic Knots, Super Mushroom Soup, Piranha Plant Caprese, Mario Bacon Cheeseburger, Luigi Pesto Chicken Burger, Block Tiramisu and Princess Peach Cupcake.

There’s a huge merch factory for all your Nintendo needs.

Along with countless other areas to explore in the park, such as Peach’s Castle and Mount Beanpole, there’s a whole story of customizable Nintendo Merch.

It’s called the “1-Up Factory” and it looks like a lot of savings will be spent there.

The augmented reality Mario Kart Ride is going to be…epic.

You can’t have a Super Nintendo World without a real-life Mario Kart course.

While we haven’t seen any previews of the ride at Hollywood, it’s already getting a tonne of hype. And we have some insider looks at the ride in Japan!

You begin by walking through Bowser’s Castle, then get your VR headsets.

Throughout the ride, you can pick up coins and throw turtle shells for the full Mario Kart experience. And of course, you’ll cross over Rainbow Road!
