Students Are Using "HSC Stress" to Score Free Food on Facebook (and It’s Kinda Working)

This is true genius in action.

Earlier this year, a U.S. teenager scored a year’s supply of free chicken nuggets from American fast food outlet Wendy’s when his Twitter request got more than 3.6 million retweets (the most RTs ever).

#NuggsforCarter is the most inspiring story we’ve ever had the privilege to write about here at Student Edge, and we published a review of the Neil Armstrong biopic First Man literally today.

Now, the meme-loving students of Australia are following in Carter’s footsteps, attempting to parlay their exam woes into some free food. And it's kinda working.

On Facebook’s HSC Discussion Group, you can see a variety of Sydney students definitely-not-trolling food and beverage proprietors, seeking free burgers, iced coffees and more in exchange for likes.

But the proprietors may be surprised to learn that the enterprising students are actually hitting the benchmarks being set for them.

Witness their efforts below. (Click the images to see the original FB posts.)

Unfortunately, not all brands are getting on board. OAK’s social media admin told a student they’d need a "minimum commitment of changing your name, erasing your life history and beginning a new life as a Chocolate OAK", for starters.

San Churro Penrith, however, has set the bar, promising "ALL HSC STUDENTS IN Western Sydney FREE CHURROS on the day of the last HSC EXAM" if students can get their FB page to 20,000 likes. (Yes, we have personally confirmed with San Churro Penrith that the offer is legit.)

I mean, some might say this time could be better spent studying for the exams that are mere days away, but then again… free churros.
