What to Do If You Get Rejected Claiming a Student Edge Deal

Sigh. Oh, rejection. Human beings know it all too well.
However, it’s one thing to be rejected by a childhood crush or a prospective employer, and another thing entirely to be rejected at the counter of a take-away joint or clothing retailer. They sell us our food and shoes! How could anyone reasonably recover from such betrayal?
The sad fact is, there might be the odd occasion where you go to claim a discount from one of Student Edge’s partners, and the person manning the desk stares back at you blankly. You show them your Student Edge app or card, thinking this will seal the deal, and yet it only confuses them further.
The last thing we want is for members to find themselves caught in such a socially awkward scenario, denied their well-deserved discount. So, should you wind up in a situation such as this, here’s what you need to do:
First of all, be super friendly.
There’s a good chance you’re dealing with a trainee or someone so new they’ve not yet had it explained to them what Student Edge members are entitled to. They’re probably not trying to intentionally rip you off. Before we continue with the following instructions, we just want to ask that you be kind and courteous as you sort all this out. Thanks. You're the best.
Ask if there’s anyone senior to talk to.
Managers are preferable, but they won’t always be working, so just see if there’s someone with a little more experience around who can help out the newbie.
Download the Free App
Now, if literally no-one in the store has any idea what you’re talking about, you might be thinking you’re out of options and need to skulk out of there to the forlorn tune of Vince Guaraldi’s sad Peanuts music. Well, don’t skulk so fast! If you download the free Student Edge app, you can actually show the employees the discount in question, as well as the Terms & Conditions explaining why you can use it. They’ll apologise, you’ll forgive them, and you’ll both laugh about it years down the track when the seeds you planted that day have evolved into a long and lasting friendship. Download the App here, or get it on your Android, for free. (If you already have the app, great! Don't put it away so quickly next time, as you can use it to your advantage in situations just like these!)
(Also worth noting: Student Edge no longer produces cards, so apps will be more familiar to our partners going forward.)
Of course, if you encounter absolutely any other problems, don’t hesitate to let us know by emailing support@studentedge.com.au with details of the date, time, store name and location, so we can chase it up on your behalf. Hopefully, by taking these three steps, you won’t ever need to.
