Student Edge Adds Job Readiness Program to Its Online Learning Platform for Aussie Schools

Student Edge has added a second program to its growing online learning platform, answering members calls to help them find work.

The new program, Job Readiness, joins the inaugural program, Cyber Safety, on Student Edge Learning.

In the Job Readiness program, participants will learn how to write a resume and cover letter as well as prepare for and participate in job interviews. It also covers such subjects as superannuation, tax and workers’ rights; information essential for any young person starting a new job.

SE’s General Manager of Members and Marketing, Choon Tan, believes students who complete the program will learn how to gain an advantage when attempting to secure work.

“One of the most sought-after pieces of advice Student Edge has been asked over the years is, ‘Where and how can I find a job?’, particularly among young people seeking casual employment for the first time,” he said.

“However, discovering a job opening is only part of the journey. In today’s competitive environment, how does a young person ensure they stand out among the large number of applicants for the same job? This is where we believe Student Edge’s ‘Job Readiness’ program can help.”

The Student Edge Learning platform allows teachers the flexibility to assign individual programs in the classroom or as a home activity, with it being fully compatible with desktop and mobile devices.

“The main difference between the in-class program and the Student Edge Learning online platform is the ability to reinforce one’s learning through a series of quizzes, plus a printable certificate upon completion,” Tan added.

“Student Edge’s ‘Job Readiness’ program has been presented in person to schools across Australia over the past couple of years to a rousing reception, so it made sense to present the program in a self-service online learning format.

“The advantage of the Student Edge Learning platform for teachers is that it is incredibly easy to purchase, disseminate to students either as an in-class activity or as assigned homework, and to monitor students’ progress and completion.”

Student Edge Learning works on a simple system where schools pay for the students' tokens, which can be redeemed on the provided programs.

“Students love the opportunity to learn life skills in a friendly, self-paced environment, compatible across all laptops and devices,” Tan said.

“In response to members' requests, we will be creating programs to address many other areas of student interest, such as financial literacy and mental health. Watch this space!”
