Step Aside "Slender Man": Steven Spielberg Is Producing a Reddit Horror Story

Steven Spielberg is bringing to life your favourite Reddit horror story.

Most horror stories you read on Reddit or other forums are good for a quick, guilty fright, but often they don't have the depth to be made into, let's say, a Steven Spielberg-produced movie.

Until now, that is.

According to Variety, Steven Spielberg's production company, Amblin Partners, has acquired the rights to one of Reddit's most successful horror stories, The Spire in the Woods, renaming it The Bells.

The story's author, Tony Lunedi, published the story in ten parts on the subreddit nosleep back in 2013, and it has since been one of the more popular stories to appear in the thread. It's also been published as a novel.

It's set in a small town where a young guy looks into the real cause of the death of his friend, Robert. He soon finds out, shortly before his death, Robert became obsessed with a local ghost story and the young man, on his quest for the truth, follows in his final footsteps.

Also on board with the project is It producer Roy Lee and Aquaman producer Jon Berg, to make this frightening story a reality.

So, remember the next time you come up with a great horror story idea, it could just be the next Spielberg classic... you just have to post it on Reddit.
