Sia Shares Her Name (But Not Her Face, Obvs) With University Of Adelaide's New Music And Media Institute

Sia has been honoured with a music institute in her name at the University of Adelaide (despite the fact, erm, she never actually went to the University of Adelaide).

Still, that’s no reason for South Australia to not pay tribute to their best-loved daughter.

Announced yesterday, the Sia Furler Institute for Contemporary Music and Media will be housed at the uni’s Elder Conservatorium of Music.

According to ABC News, the institute will offer students a space to work with “cutting edge technology” that can be applied to both, you guessed it, music and media industries.

It’s not yet known how significant wig-work will be at the SFICMM, though we’re hoping, “very”.

In a video message played at the unveiling, Sia described sharing a name with the school as an “incredible honour.”

"I just wanted to say thank you to the university. It's very exciting and humbling," she said in the pre-taped video from Los Angeles.

Seems like a cause for celebration, really.
