“Round the Twist” Is Getting Turned into a Musical

Cue intro song.
Round the Twist, One of Australia’s most iconic—and weirdest—television shows from your childhood is getting a musical revamp and we can’t even deal right now.
Now, before you start thinking, ‘this is a disaster waiting to happen’ hear us out. The man behind the musical is Garry McQuinn, who turned the famous Aussie film Priscilla Queen of the Desert into a musical that has gone on to be a hit show on Broadway and West End.

many people don't understand how absolutely cursed this show was
It’s fair to say Round the Twist the Musical is in safe hands.
What everyone really wants to know though, is will the musical include the show’s wacky theme song? Considering it’s the most iconic part of the show, I reckon its inclusion is a safe bet.
Honestly, that intro song has lived rent-free in my head for a long time, just lying dormant, waiting for some random moment to press play—usually just before I fall asleep.
Speaking of the music, award-winning writer and composer Paul Hodge is handling the music side of things and has promised he will do the 90s hit justice.
“I am one of a generation of kids around the world who grew up watching and loving Round the Twist,” Hodge said.
“For a show so much about family, I’m thrilled that the generation that grew up watching the show will be able to introduce a whole new generation of kids to the story—it will be a true family event.”
How good is that? Another generation of Aussies gets the opportunity to have the Round the Twist theme song stuck in their head. Why should they be spared after all?
What was Round the Twist about?
For anyone who never watched the show, Round the Twist was a series of stories about the Twist family. Often supernatural in nature, the show followed single father Tony Twist and his three kids who left the city to live in a lighthouse ‘cos why not?
Rooted in family values, the show was hilarious, heartwarming and definitely more than once too crude for TV (that’s why we loved it).
The adaptation will take all 26 episodes of Round the Twist and condense them into a two-hour musical. Unfortunately, there is no word on when we can go see the musical in theatres.
If you wanna have some wicked fever dreams, all 4 Seasons of Round the Twist are available to watch now on Netflix.
