Rebel Wilson Is Suing Aussie Mags For Embarrassing Her With Fake Age Reports

Age ain’t nothing but a number, but that’s not keeping Rebel Wilson from suing a publisher for trying to out hers.

The 36-year-old Pitch Perfect star has filed a defamation suit in the Victorian Supreme Court against Bauer Media, publisher of Woman’s Day, The Australian Women’s Weekly, NW and OK Magazine.

According to News.com.au, Wilson is suing for special damages after those publications suggested she had faked her age to get gigs in Hollywood, portraying her as “a serial liar.”

She also alleges that the articles resulted in her missing out on roles and having some parts taken away from her. Wilson notes that she was not contacted for comment before the articles were published, and was "humiliated and embarrassed" by the ordeal.

Wilson spoke about the attempts by the media to reveal her true age earlier this year. Speaking with Julia Zemiro, she said, "when I did go to America, I kind of just stopped saying my age."

"[T]hat's not really a crime. Also, most actresses do that."

In a similar case, Margot Robbie was recently targeted by Jezebel, who claimed she was lying about being 25. There, however, it turned out she’s really 25, and Jezebel had to publish a retraction.
