Reality TV Contestants Who Spent a Year In the Woods Are About to Find Out Their Show Was Axed Ages Ago

If a reality show is cancelled in the woods, does it make a sound?

Ten reality TV contestants who spent a year disconnected from reality, living in the Scottish Highlands, are set to re-enter the world, The Guardian reports.

Just one little thing: their TV show was cancelled in August of 2016.

Channel 4, the UK broadcaster behind the defunct-yet-somehow-still-running Eden, said a special episode explaining all that had gone on for the contestants since they stopped airing eps would run later in the year.

“The appeal of Eden is that it was a real experiment and when filming began we had no idea what the results would be and how those taking part would react to being isolated for months in a remote part of the British Isles,” the statement read.

Initially, 23 strangers agreed to build a self-sufficient community without technology or modern tools, and in complete isolation from the outside world. Four crew members came along for the ride.

Over time, 13 of the contestants abandoned the show for reasons ranging from “sexual jealousy, infighting and hunger”, which sounds fair enough, honestly.

Locals also spotted the contestants flaunting the experiment’s restrictions, with some smuggling in junk food and alcohol, and others visiting a dentist “after eating chicken feed grit”.

Anyway, this sounds like incredible television. But who’s going to tell them about Ed Sheeran?
