Real-Life "PUBG" Loot Boxes Are Going to Be Showing Up Around Australia Tomorrow

Spoiler Alert: They won't contain any weapons, duh.

To celebrate the release of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) on Xbox One, the company will be dropping real-life loot boxes in some of Australia's capital cities.

Yes, you heard that right. In an attempt to blur the lines between reality and online gaming, Xbox will be giving away some handy gifts like copies of PUBG and Xbox consoles. Though it's still not clear if they will actually be dropping heavy wooden boxes from the sky or just placing them neatly in the location.

PUBG was released earlier this year as a beta (meaning an unfinished game) and has since sold more than 20 million copies and has an average of two million players playing it currently. It's pretty safe to say that it's basically the game of the year.

The concept is pretty simple: a maximum of 100 players are dropped into a map (8km by 8km) and have to kill everyone until they are the last one (or team) standing. It's basically Hunger Games but you can continue living your peaceful life after you switch the game off.

Unfortunately, the promotion will only be available in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. (Sorry, everyone else).
