Public Enemies (AKA the "Game of Thrones" Writers) Are Signed On to Write the Next "Star Wars" Film

Is it time to say goodbye to character development and rational storylines in Star Wars?

If you've been keeping up-to-date with the Game of Thrones' final season, you might've noticed that jamming seven seasons' worth of character and plot development into neat conclusions with just a six-episode final season is a tough task.

Still, the show's writers have managed to do it in the most fan-infuriating way.

** Scram! Spoiler alert for Game of Thrones Season 8.**

Of course, that's mostly due to the treatment of the series' apparent hero, Daenerys Targaryen, who took a sharp 180-degree turn towards the dark side by burning thousands of innocents to death after her BFF and one of her pet dragons were murdered.

The internet has now banded together in mutual dislike aimed squarely at the show's writers, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss (once affectionately known as D&D), for ruining their once sorta benevolent queen.

So, you can imagine everyone's stress when Disney announced those very writers would definitely be writing the next Star Wars trilogy after Rise of the Skywalker is released later this year.

Disney's head honcho, Bob Iger, confirmed the news at the Moffett Nathanson Media and Communications Summit in New York.

"The next movie we produce will be theirs [D.B. Weiss and David Benioff's]," Iger said.

"We're not saying anything more about that."

While the subject and release date of the new Star Wars addition is still unconfirmed at this point, a few weeks back, Disney revealed their release schedule of upcoming films.

In it was three Star Wars films, set to be released every two years from the end of 2022. Everyone assumed this would mean another trilogy, but with the latest announcement, it could potentially be a title left off the release schedule.

The announcement has been followed by some seriously savage anti-Game of Thrones sarcasm on Twitter.

Even George Takei had a hot take.

But, just remember...
