PS5’s New "Spider-Man" Remaster Looks Like Tom Holland and People Are Mad

They’re just over his face.
Sony has just revealed their newest remaster of Spider-Man ready for the PS5 but the biggest difference (that everyone has noticed) is Tom Hollan-ahem-I-mean-Peter Parker’s face.
Sony has excused the change by saying that the new face better resembles their voice actor Yuri Lowenthal, but fans are sceptical, thinking they've just tried to jump on the on-screen Spidey's popularity.
Here’s the trailer if you missed it:
It feels like more than a coincidence that they chose a Tom Holland lookalike considering Sony owns the film rights to Spider-Man as well as games developer Insomniac Games.
Yuri Lowenthal even weighed in blaming his facial structure, however I’m not sure I see the resemblance.

People are so worked up about it that both Tom Holland and Peter Parker were trending on Twitter, so here are some memes:

Because of the madness, Creative Director at Insomniac, Bryan Intihar, shared a Tweet detailing their decision and why it was necessary.
"Today’s news about the new Peter Parker face model has surprised some of you, and we at Insomniac totally understand your reaction," he said.
"Heck, it even took me awhile to get used to Peter's new look.
"But as we discussed the franchise’s future and moving to the PS5, it quickly became apparent that delivering even more believable-looking characters made finding a better facial match for Yuri Lowenthal—who we all love as Peter—a necessity."

Intihar asked players to consider the thought that went into the change and that they will continue to listen to their feedback.
"We care as much about this character as your attachment to him, so please know we didn’t make this decision/change lightly," he said.
"As we did throughout the development of Marvel’s Spider-Man, we’ll continue to read your comments, listen, and always be looking for ways to improve every facet of the game.
"At the same time, I hope you can trust us that this decision is what we feel is best for the future of the franchise and our upcoming goals for this beloved Marvel character."
In other news, the remastered version of the game will have a 'performance mode', which will let players experience the game in 60fps as well as what Sony are calling 'near-instant loading'.
Other characters in the game are also getting tweaks to their looks but instead of full on facial reconstruction, Sony has added higher fidelity skin, eye and teeth shaders and individually-rendered strands of hair to make them look so much more realistic.
If you don’t care about Tom Holland’s new doppelganger the remaster is available for AUD$94.95 and can be pre-ordered here.
