Prepare to Swoon: "Normal People" Is Returning for Two More Episodes

Get ready for another emotional rollercoaster.
If you have only recently finished watching Normal People on Stan, you are probably still attempting to emotionally recover. Based on Sally Rooney's best-selling novel, the series broke hearts across the globe.
Well, if you felt like you had finally moved on, we're sorry to inform you that two new episodes are on the way.

As reported by Metro, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal will reprise their roles as Marianne and Connell for two special episodes for Comic Relief Ireland.
The episodes will be set 40 years on from where the show finished, so we'll get to see what became of the iconic pair in the future.
*Normal People spoilers below.*
As you know (unless you've been trying to forget), the Normal People finale saw Connell leave Marianne behind in Dublin to take part in a graduate writer's program in New York City.
This open ending meant that we never thought we'd actually find out what happened to the lovers in the future.
*End of spoilers.*
Comic Relief co-founder, Richard Curtis explained that the two new episodes will be based on a piece called Normal Older People.
"There's a beautiful piece called Normal Older People, which is imagining what would have happened to Marianne and Connell 40 years from now," Curtis told RTÉ Radio 1.
"It's so much better than anything we've ever made."
Curtis also teased the appearance of a guest star in the upcoming episodes.
"I mean I can't even say [everything] about it because there's a guest star in it. But it's really, really beautiful. One of the things about Comic Relief is it just gives opportunities for things to happen that would never happen. I can't imagine any context in which they would have allowed this little sort of extra special guest into the world of Normal People," he said.
Additionally, it has been confirmed that Sally Rooney's first novel, Conversations With Friends, will be adapted for television as well.
Normal People co-producer Ed Guiney told Refinery29 that they're using the same creative team.
"We're actively developing that and Lenny [Abrahamson] is going to direct the opening episodes of that again, and that's very exciting and a lovely thing to be working on during the lockdown," Guiney said.
Only viewers in Ireland and Northern Ireland will be able to watch the two new episodes of Normal People live, so we'll be sure to let you know where Aussies can watch it.
Stan doesn't have any official news at the moment, so keep your eyes peeled.
It's all too much for our hearts to handle.
