Prepare to Cry: Falls Festival 2020 Has Officially Been Cancelled

Can we cancel 2020 too?
We have seen many large-scale events postponed or completely scrapped this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
With the need to maintain physical distancing, there have been restrictions on mass gatherings, which has meant we've had to wave goodbye to a number of concerts.
In fact, New South Wales students may not even get in-person graduations or formals if coronavirus cases continue to rise in the state.

Over the past few months, many music festivals have also been cancelled, including Splendour in the Grass.
However, we had hope that by the end of the year, the pandemic would settle down and Falls Festival would still go ahead.
Sadly, it was confirmed earlier today that our dreams of dancing along to the music of Aussie acts at Falls this New Year have been crushed.
Falls Festival 2020 has officially been cancelled by organisers, despite initial plans to go ahead this summer with an exclusively Australian line-up.
"Consider this a raincheck," the organisers wrote in a Twitter post.
Dear Falls Fam, #FallsFestival will no longer be taking place this year. We are working with government stakeholders and key agencies to get Falls back in the calendar but always your safety is our priority. Consider this a raincheck. "In May, as the nation seemed to be moving into recovery mode, we were optimistic about forging ahead and supporting our local industry with an all Aussie edition of Falls Festival," promoters Secret Sounds wrote in a statement today.
"We were especially excited to reunite many live music fans, get industry crew back on the job and contribute to the economies of the communities where Falls takes place. However, given the current status of things and broader restrictions in place, it won't be possible to hold Falls Festival in our regular New Year's timeframe."
Secret Sounds had previously announced that the Tasmanian leg of the festival wouldn't go ahead in 2020.
At this stage, new dates for the festival have not been revealed.
Back in April, there were reports that music festivals probably won't happen until there's a coronavirus vaccine.
