Pope Francis Warns Of Climate Change; Calls The Earth "An Immense Pile Of Filth"

Some real talk from Pope Francis.

The Pope has officially dropped his long awaited mixtape papal document regarding the state of the environment after it was leaked online three days earlier.

Titled Tha Carter V “Laudato Si’” (“Be Praised”), it’s the very first encyclical of its kind.

In it, Pope Francis called for immediate action on climate change, describing the current status of the Earth as resembling “an immense pile of filth.”

"If present trends continue, this century may well witness extraordinary climate change and an unprecedented destruction of ecosystems, with serious consequences for all of us," he added.

The realness didn’t stop there.

Pope Francis also encouraged a change of lifestyle within wealthy countries, where the “throwaway” consumer culture has combined with “obstructionist attitudes” to create said “pile of filth.”

The encyclical has raised the ire of some, particularly in the United States, with sceptics taking umbrage over Pope Francis’ reminder that “boycotting certain products” can force big businesses to change their approach to their environment.

Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush remarked earlier in the week, “I don’t get economic policy from my bishops or my cardinals or my pope.”
