PlayStation Continues to Be a Pest and Won't Allow "Fallout 76" Cross-Play

Fallout 76 will be a platform-divided experience.
If you're the owner of a PlayStation 4 and you planned on playing the upcoming Fallout online game against your Xbox mates, you're not in luck.
Tom Howard, a video game designer at Bethesda Game Studios working on Fallout 76, has admitted Sony won't allow them to enable cross-play between platforms. That means if you have a PlayStation, you can only play against other PlayStation users. Are you an Xbox owner? You also can only play against other Xbox players... thanks to Sony.
Howard told GameStar.de that "we would love to do [cross-play]... but right now that's not possible."
He admitted the reason it's not possible is that Sony is not being "as helpful as everyone would like it."

Some had creative suggestions for game developers to stop them shirtfronting in the future.
If Bethesda really wanted it they'd hold their game off ps until Sony caves

It's certainly not the first time Sony has played hardball with their competitors in terms of crossplay.
In June, Fornite was finally released to Nintendo Switch but gamers got a shock when they tried to log in to the game and couldn't use the same account they had used on PlayStation.
I don't even care about Fortnite, but this is absolute garbage. If your Fortnite account has EVER been logged onto the PS4, you can't ever play on Xbox One or Switch, not even by unlinking your account. pic.twitter.com/OuhtlPmTTv

Sony responded to the criticism by telling the BBC that they had a still supported cross-play on PC, Mac and mobile devices.
"With... more than 80 million monthly active users on PlayStation Network, we've built a huge community of gamers who can play together on Fortnite and all online titles," the spokesperson said.
"We also offer Fortnite cross-play support with PC, Mac, iOS, and Android devices, expanding the opportunity for Fortnite fans on PS4 to play with even more gamers on other platforms.
"We have nothing further to add beyond this at this point."
Perhaps the only way for Sony to reconsider this approach is if they have their own fan fallout...
