The Internet Reacts to The Oscars 2024

It’s the end of the Barbenheimer era.

It feels like we’ve been talking about Barbenheimer for months, it’s because we have.

Since both films premiered in July last year, all everyone’s wanted to know is which film will outdo the other one. And there was already some drama when Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig didn't receive nominations for Best Actress and Best Director.

We’d argue that it’s not about which film is better but rather looking at both of them as two great films on their own 👀

After an awards ceremony season full of different wins and big moments, it’s finally all culminated with the Academy Awards (also known as The Oscars).

Like seriously, how did this dog not win an Oscar?

Cillian Murphy gets his Oscar & Da'vine Joy Randolph wins it all.

Oppenheimer has dominated all the award shows this season and it finally culminated in Christopher Nolan winning his first Oscar as Best Director, the film winning Best Picture, Robert Downey Jr. winning Best Supporting Actor AND Cillian Murphy winning Best Actor. 

Speaking of Oppenheimer, we can't not mention Al Pacino announcing the award in the most Al Pacino way possible.

In huge news, Da'Vine Joy Randolph has taken home numerous Best Supporting Actress wins!

She's won in her category at the SAG Awards, the Golden Globes, Critic's Choice Awards, the BAFTA's, and now the Oscars. 

"When I was the only Black girl in that class, when you saw me and you told me I was enough, and when I told you I don't see myself...you said 'that's fine, we're gonna forge our own path. You're gonna lay a trail for yourself.'”

Ryan Gosling performs I'm Just Ken and we're not ok.

A performance some are saying was better than the Superbowl Halftime Show, Ryan Gosling quite literally raised the roof by performing I'm Just Ken.

Emma Stone wins Best Actress.

In a huge upset, Emma Stone won best actress beating Lily Gladstone who was the favourite to win, according to critics. 

Winning for her part in Poor Things, this is her second Oscar and she thanked her daughter in a heartfelt speech. She also revealed she managed to tear her dress while dancing during I'm Just Ken. Same Emma, same.

"My dress is broken. I'm pretty sure it happened during 'I'm Just Ken.'"
