An Aussie Could Win the Super Bowl on Monday

A former Perth tradie could win the Super Bowl 🙌
He used to kick the footy around with his mates in his hometown of Perth, but now Aussie Mitch Wishnowsky could be the first Australian to win a Super Bowl.
Super Bowl Sunday (Monday for us down under) is coming up and we could have an Aussie winner on our hands.
Maybe you only watch the Super Bowl for the half-time show (Usher is performing this year). Maybe you just love the ads. Or maybe your team is finally in a championship.
Whatever the case, it’s time to get amongst it so we can cheer on our Aussie representative.
Who is the Aussie player in this year’s Super Bowl?

Born in Gosnells, Mitch Wishnowsky is an Aussie player for the San Francisco 49ers.
He left secondary school at 16 years old to become a glazier and was playing in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) Reserves. Later, began to play a flag version of AFL when one of his friends put him in touch with Prokick Australia, a training centre in Melbourne that converts Aussie rules players into gridiron football punters.
Eventually Mitch made his way to Utah and was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2019 NFL Draft.
As a rookie, he reached the Super Bowl LIV (the 2019 season held in 2020) but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 31-20.
He was the first Aussie to score a point in an NFL game and should it go the 49ers way, he could be the first Aussie to play and win.
We should note that technically Jesse Williams was the first Australian to win a Super Bowl in 2013 with the Seattle Seahawks but he didn’t play the season or the championship game due to injury.
What is the Super Bowl?

The Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the US National Football League (NFL).
It’s played by the winners of the NFL’s American Football Conference and National Football Conference championships.
The first Super Bowl was held in 1967 – which is probably before or when some of your parents were born!
Which teams are in the Super Bowl 2024?
This year’s Super Bowl (Super Bowl LVIII or 58) will be another showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Fracisco 49ers.
Held in Las Vegas, The Chiefs have been in four of the past five Super Bowls and won last year against the Philadelphia Eagles.
While the 49ers faced off The Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV, the last time they were NFL Champions was in 1995.
The 49ers have won five times while the Chiefs have won three times.
Who’s expected to win?

Although the Chiefs have won more recently, this year’s Super Bowl is a pretty even match-up according to most sports analysts and critics.
FOX Sports NFL analyst Michael Strahan told FOX Sports it will be a great game to watch.
“I think both of these teams are in different place than they were when we saw the first matchup,” he said.
“I’m looking at Kansas City, in a lot of ways, being led more than their defence instead of their offense like the last time.
“And I think that the 49ers feel like they have some unfinished business.”
When is the Super Bowl and how can I watch?
The match kicks off at 3:30pm local time in Las Vegas which is 10:30am AEDT and 7:30am AWST.
In Australia you can watch it on Seven Network.
