Orange Is The New Black's Third Season Was Just Released Early By Netflix

Public Service Announcement: Orange is the New Black - now with added Ruby Rose - returns for its third season today. In fact, it’s live right now.

Thanks to the mercy of Netflix, all of Season 3 has been dropped at once, because that’s how Netflix do.

Originally set to go live at 2pm AEST this afternoon, you can actually start streaming it from Netflix immediately. Foxtel will still air a planned marathon screening of all 14 episodes from 2pm AEST on Showcase.

If you had planned on attending any weddings or christenings this weekend, you should probably inform the hosts you’ve now got more pressing matters to attend to.

The show, about the inmates of the all-female Litchfield Penitentiary, is an even bigger critical success and fan favourite than Netflix’s initially-hoped flagship series House of Cards.

Season 3 has already garnered some promising reviews, with a 92% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. With the inclusion of Ruby Rose as a new love interest for lead heroine Piper, as well as the return of Alex from that other, bizarro-universe prison, S3 should provide plenty of sparks.

Then again, we’re far more interested in the trials and tribulations of Crazy Eyes, Poussey, Nicky, Taystee, Pennsatucky and Red than Piper's issues.

Remember to come back here on Monday morning once you’ve watched all 14 episodes to share your bleary-eyed thoughts.
