Optus is apparently considering a name change, and no, not to Bacon Double Cheesburger.
According to
Fairfax Media, Singtel-Optus is laying the groundwork to replace the name of its signature telco with its tagline: Yes.

No, not that one. We’re talking traditional spelling.
However, a spokesperson for Optus has
denied Fairfax's report, adding, "We're not changing our brand and we're not changing our name."
Wondering where the report began? Fairfax sources indicated that Singtel Australia had spent the past 12 months covertly conducting focus group testing and market analysis to see what kind of fallout would follow such a drastic rebranding.
They’ve even gone so far as to renew their trademark on the word “yes” (used by itself), while also trademarking “Yes TV”, “Yes Crowd” and “WiFi Talk Yes”.

It’s not known if Optus was exploring a full rebrand or if they’re simply planning on making “Yes” more prominent in their messaging (though that seems impossible; have you seen their ads?). After all, an entire overhaul could cost upwards of tens of millions of dollars.
Nonetheless, at this moment in time, Optus is staying Optus. But, if their market research urges them in another direction, might they be open to taking another name?
