OMG: Trisha Paytas Is Leaving the "Frenemies" Podcast

There was an argument over ownership.

The H3H3 Frenemies podcast hosted by Trisha Paytas and Ethan Klein has become one of the most popular podcast and YouTube video series on the internet in recent times.

Racking up between one and three million views per episode, the series is often referred to as the starting point of Trisha’s redemption arc, and allowed fans and haters to watch them grow, build strong relationships with Ethan’s family, and open up about their mental health.

As Tisha is non-binary and uses both they/them pronouns, we will use they/them when referring to them in this article.

While the Frenemies podcast seems to have had a positive influence on Trisha’s life, the YouTube star made the announcement yesterday that they were officially calling it quits after an argument over ownership and production decisions for the series.

In a video titled "stepping down from frenemies" on Tuesday evening, Trisha explained their reasoning and then discussed the details of the argument between them and Ethan on Monday’s episode.

“I need to step away from Frenemies, and it’s really, really with a heavy heart that I say that because it is kind of like, it’s been my stability,” they said.

“A lot of people were upset by my little episode yesterday… And I talked to Ethan, and he was saying the crew is really upset with me.”

The episode in question is titled "Talking About Gabbie Hanna – Frenemies #39". After a seemingly normal podcast, in the final 12 minutes, the pair have a heated argument about work responsibilities, ownership of the podcast and the distribution of its earnings.

When Trisha criticised a specific advice segment of the show, Ethan accused Trish of being lazy.

“You don’t you anything for it, you just show up, we do all the work,” he said.

After defending their contribution, Trisha then accused Ethan of recycling content and being unoriginal.

This led to the pair discussing production hires, production costs and the distribution of the show's earnings after Trisha explained that they feel they don’t have enough input.

“It is like frustrating when you think you do all this work and think, ‘Oh we’re doing all this great stuff’ and it’s like, it’s not that great sometimes,” they said.

“I don’t get input on people we hire, like all the stuff like that.”

The podcast concludes on a real awkward note once the pair decide to end the argument and Trisha leaves the set.

In response to the dispute, Ethan posted a tongue-in-cheek tweet saying, “Happy #NationalBestFriendsDay” which appears to be before he became aware of Trisha’s announcement video.

Once he was made aware of Trisha’s video, Ethan returned to Twitter to describe his shock.

“I am honestly gutted over this whole thing, trisha's video this morning was a total surprise to me,” he wrote.

“I dont really know what more I can say or do. Im very sorry to all the fans of frenemies, I know how much it meant to everyone, I did everything I humanly could to save it.”

While some fans are devastated by this news, many others are doubting the announcement’s validity due to Trisha’s tendency to flip-flop between decisions. The YouTuber previously claimed to quit the podcast back in December last year.

If you’ve got no idea who we’re on about, Trisha is one of YouTube’s OG influencers and pot stirrers.

Currently with 5.14 million subscribers on the platform, Trisha is most well known for their drama with other influencers and controversial videos.

Despite their controversies in the past, over the last year or so Trisha has had somewhat of an online redemption arc, and has picked up a whole new generation of fans on TikTok and from the Frenemies podcast.

In the comments of the podcast’s latest episode and on Twitter there is a lot opposing views from fans regarding who was in the wrong in this case.

On a slightly less serious note, some fans of the podcast are blaming the pizza that the pair were sharing for causing the feud, claiming that every time they order pizza, something awful happens on the podcast.

“STOP ORDERING PIZZA!!! Something bad happens every time,” 8Bit CR wrote.

While this could be the end of the beloved Frenemies podcast for good, there is a chance that the pair could reconcile, especially considering Trisha’s engagement to Ethan’s brother-in-law Moses.
