All the Details on the YouTube Feud Between Gabbie Hanna and Joey Graceffa Explained

Trigger warning: this article discusses mental health.
Since Thursday 17 June, YouTube personality Gabbie Hanna has been posting a series of videos to her main channel, breaking down the various controversies, dramas and feuds she has been a part of during her time on the internet.
The series appears to be almost like an exposé, revealing Gabbie’s personal experiences and calling out various other YouTube personalities that used to be her supporters or friends.
Gabbie has explained that the posting of these videos are her way of letting go of all the traumatic experiences she has had online, allowing her to finally move on from them and look after her mental health.
However, after a video she posted to the platform on Monday, viewers and other YouTubers—including Joey Graceffa and Rosanna Pansino—have responded back to her, defending their position and personal experience, claiming that Gabbie is instead confusing or leaving out information and consistently playing the victim.
So, to catch you up on exactly what’s happened, here are the details.

Who is Gabbie Hanna?
For some quick context, if you don’t follow Gabbie or Joey they are both YouTube personalities that have long histories on the platform.
Joey started posting on YouTube all the way back in 2007 and now boasts 9.4 million subscribers. Gabbie made her way onto the platform from Vine in 2014 after the six second video sharing platform was shut down and now has a following of 5.62 million.

Joey is a vlogger, actor, author, producer and singer but most of his YouTube content is focused around lifestyle videos and trends. On the other hand, Gabbie started out as a story-time YouTuber but now the majority of her content focuses on her music career and vlogging.
What did Gabbie say in her video?
Now onto Gabbie’s claims. The video she posted on Monday was the fourth chapter of her series discussing specific dramas, this one titled: "Ch.4: Escape the Nightmare" and breaks down the negative experience she had on set filming the YouTube Red series Escape the Night, which was written and hosted by Joey.
In the video, Gabbie explains how her requests for wardrobe, dietary requirements and time management were not respected, ultimately taking a toll on her mental health (this discussion starts at 19:57 of the video).
(Warning: this video references mild drug use and contains explicit language.)
More specifically, Gabbie claimed that she was made to wear uncomfortable costumes that made her break out in rashes, was forced to wait hours on end for shoots that never took place, and that her diet was not catered for.
Gabbie also went on to explain that although her reactions to these situations were not respectful at the time, she was given just as impolite responses back from the show’s producer Daniel Preda and Joey.
She also went on to describe how her experience and behaviour was worsened as she is someone with ADHD and anxiety and that she “used to be really difficult to work with” because of it.
The video shares multiple screenshots of text messages between her and Joey, and her and Daniel, acting as evidence to her side of the story.
So, what was the online response?
Soon after Gabbie’s video went live, food YouTuber (and friend of Joey) Rosanna Pansino took to Twitter to defend Joey and Daniel, and explain her version of events as she also worked on the set of Escape the Night.
In her tweet, she explained how Gabbie did not show up to several required costume fittings, failed to fill out her medical information that included dietary requirements until the first day of shooting, and often acted offensively to members of the production staff.
She also went on to say that Gabbie was using her mental health issues as an excuse for her behaviour and that both Joey and Daniel were “extremely patient and accommodating.”
Soon after this, Joey posted his own video to YouTube titled: "Gabbie Hanna Needs to Stop", echoing most of what Rosanna had to say about Gabbie’s behaviour on set, and the lack of accountability she seems to be taking.
Joey described that him and Gabbie used to be close friends but his experience on set with her ultimately lead to the breakup of their friendship.
"You're scary and you make it very hard for people to be honest with you," Joey said.
On Wednesday, Daniel posted his own video telling his side of the story titled "The TRUTH About Gabbie Hanna & Escape The Night."
(Warning: this video contains explicit language.)
Daniel’s video reveals that Gabbie did not meet production obligations set out in her contract and on the third day of filming, Gabbie “blew up” on set, yelling and swearing at himself and other crew members.
Later on, Gabbie also replied to Rosanna on Twitter, defending some of her claims.
you’re allowed to have to experience as i can have mine, ro.

1) i did have wardrobe fittings, i couldn’t make the last one, but i was at 2 (with photos)
2) my needs were sent to my agent and communicated directly to d & j beforehand
3) on day 3, daniel finally got me food https://t.co/lGpDbT0r8H
In the comments of Gabbie’s video, fans and viewers are also significantly upset by her version of events and are disappointed with her for making this situation so public and seemingly blamed on mental health.
On other exposé videos shared by Gabbie, most of the comments are in support of her point of view and send her well wishes or thank her for taking some elements of responsibility, so it is interesting to see such a shift in the comments on this latest video.
Why is Gabbie exposing other creators on YouTube?
For several years now, Gabbie has been the brunt of a lot of nasty online jokes and consistent bullying or criticism.
As a creator, author and musician, Gabbie often finds her work being unfairly critiqued by other YouTubers and viewers and is now no longer a popular creator on the platform.
Her involvement in several YouTube controversies and conflicts with other problematic YouTubers has also worsened this position, ultimately leading to this series of exposé videos she feels she had to make.
Whether you’re a fan of Gabbie, Joey and Rossana or not, it’s fair to say that it’s often best to keep these kinds of disputes offline, as they can ultimately ruin someone's reputation or worsen someone’s mental health situation.
For now, Gabbie is still in the process of sharing these exposé videos. On Tuesday she posted another video discussing her rocky relationship with fellow YouTuber Trisha Paytas and then on Wednesday posted a part 2.
