Nintendo To Make You Forget The Wii U With New Console (Code-Named "NX") In 2017

Nintendo is working on a brand new console – code-named “NX” – set to launch in March of 2017.
The announcement was not made at a gaming expo, or via social media, or even in their Miitomo app (which now boasts more than 10 million users worldwide). No, as CNN reports, the news was dropped on page three of its quarterly financial report, shortly after the announcement of new game Kirby: Planet Robobot. Scintillating! Some expected Nintendo to unveil a follow-up to their Wii U flop at E3 in June. That might still happen… unless they decide to spend the conference talking exclusively about Kirby: Planet Robobot. (Admittedly, we’re pretty intrigued.) The “NX” will reportedly be a “brand-new concept”, whatever that means. (I would limit guesses to within the realm of the known universe, rather than purely theoretical or previously-impossible concepts, to avoid disappointment.) Hopes at Nintendo for the "NX" will be high, given that the Wii U hasn’t even cracked 13 million sales since its launch in November of 2012. Meanwhile, Microsoft has sold about 20 million Xbox Ones and Sony has sold about 36 million Playstation 4s – and they were both released a year later. Photo: iStock.Topics
