Get Your Popcorn Ready, Here Are the Most Hyped Movies for 2026

From long anticipated sequels to exciting new films, there’s something for everyone on the big screen this year 🎥
If you’re anything like us and you love going to the movies, you’re in luck.
There’s a massive wave of movies hitting theatres and streaming sites over the next 12 months.
We’ve picked out a huge list of titles set to come out this year that have been met with a ton of hype so you can give your watchlist the attention it deserves.
Trailers all included (where possible) so you don't have to waste your time scouring YouTube.
And remember to get cheaper tix for HOYTS movie theatres Monday to Thursday so you can catch them all in theatre without breaking the bank.
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (16 January).
This latest addition to the franchise is a sequel to the highly anticipated 28 Years Later that follows Spike getting involved with a gang called the Jimmys who we met at the end of the last film.
Dr. Kelson finds himself in a shocking new relationship with consequences that could change the world as he knows it, while Spike's encounter with head of the Jimmys, Jimmy Crystal becomes a nightmare he can't escape.
The Moment (30 January).
Who could forget the iconic cultural moment of Brat Summer in 2024? Centred around Charli XCX’s album Brat, this trend embraced flaws, chaos, smudged eye liner, leather and an overall “messy” vibe.
It’s a mockumentary that blends reality with satire starring none other than Charli XCX playing herself - a pop star gearing up to head off on her first headlining tour. Did we mention it’s based on her own original idea and produced by her too?
Is there anything she can’t do? 🙌
Send Help (30 January).
Imagine being stuck in an office job with a boss you hate…now imagine being stuck on a deserted island after your plane crashes with that very same boss.
Except you’ve got the hard skills to survive and the only thing your boss has is the soft skills to get through a sales meeting.
It’s the perfect horror-thriller gone wrong.
Wuthering Heights (14 February).
Based on the novel of the same name by Emily Brontë tragedy strikes when Heathcliff (Jacob Elordi) falls in love with Catherine Earnshaw (Margot Robbie), a woman from a wealthy family in 18th-century England.
Directed by Emerald Fennell (Salt Burn, Promising Young Woman) this movie has already been met with a fair bit of controversy.
How to Make a Killing (20 February).
This A24 thriller comedy follows Becket Redfellow (Glen Powell) who was disowned at birth by his wealthy family. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, he stops at nothing to reclaim his inheritance – no matter how many relatives stand in his way.
Talk about family problems!
Project Hail Mary (20 March).
Based off a novel of the same name by Andy Weir, this movie follows science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) as he wakes up on a spaceship with no recollection of who he is or how he got there.
One thing is for certain: he must find out what is causing the sun to die out and save all of humanity.
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (27 March).
After surviving an all-out attack from the Le Domas family, Grace (Samara Weaving) discovers she's reached the next level of the nightmarish game, and this time with her estranged sister, Faith (Kathryn Newton), by her side.
The Drama (3 April).
When this was posted to social media, the internet was ablaze with comments on what this movie starring A-list stars Robert Pattinson and Zendaya could possibly be about.
We got a small hint with Zendaya’s character flashing a big, shiny ring on the movie’s poster. So far what we know is it’s about a happily engaged couple getting put to the test when an unexpected revelation sends their wedding week off the rails.
Michael (26 April).
This movie follows the story of pop legend Michael Jackson – from his early days in the Jackson 5 to becoming the biggest entertainer in the world.
There’s been a lot of conversation around this film already with Jaafar Jackson (Michael’s nephew) playing the iconic star.
It Ends (2026).
This creepy new horror follows a group of friends (Akira Jackson, Phinehas Yoon, Noah Toth, Mitchell Cole) on a late-night food run become trapped on an infinite highway with otherworldly terrors lurking beyond.

Mother Mary (2026).
This thriller musical movie follows pop star Mother Mary (Anne Hathaway) reuniting with her estranged bestie and former costume designer (Michaela Coel) on the eve of her comeback performance.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 (1 May).
Gird your loins! This highly anticipated sequel is packed with iconic A-listers. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci have all returned to bring this cult classic franchise back.
There’s little that has been released so far but what we do know is Miranda Priestly faces new challenges of being the editor of a print magazine as digital media is on the rise.
Obsession (15 May).
After breaking the mysterious "One Wish Willow" to win his crush's heart, a hopeless romantic finds himself getting exactly what he asked for but soon realises he got more than he bargained for.
The Mandalorian and Grogu (22 May).
Grogu, you have won everyone’s hearts with those huge ears and adorable eyes.

As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they enlist the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin and his young apprentice Grogu.
Disclosure Day (12 June).
This science fiction thriller from Steven Spielberg follows whistleblower (Josh O’Connor) trying to broadcast the truth as experiences with alien phenomena come to light.
Toy Story 5 (19 June).
In this new instalment in the Toy Story franchise, Woody and the gang are going up against every toy’s worst nightmare…a Leapfrog Tablet.
We’re curious to see how Pixar will be able to make a movie about an iPad baby an emotional rollercoaster like their films in the past.
Supergirl (26 June).
Starring Australian actress Milly Alcock, this new DC instalment follows Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El and her darker origin before she made her way to Earth.
The last time we saw her was at the end of James Gunn’s Superman (2025) starring David Corenswet as she made a small cameo, hinting at the release of her own film.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day (31 July).
Your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man (Tom Holland) is back for another adventure post high school. What dangers and villains await our fave masked hero after the events of the last film (aka his friends and family forgetting who he is)?
The plot is still under wraps at the moment so unfortunately we don't know much about the movie thus far 🥲

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (20 November).
Based on the book of the same name, this prequel follows a young Haymitch Abernathy competing in the 50th Hunger Games (the Second Quarter Quell) where districts send double the tributes.
Aussie Joseph Zada stars as Haymitch with Mckenna Grace, Ben Wang, Maya Hawke and Ralph Fiennes also part of the cast. Late last year it was also announced that Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their roles as Katniss and Peeta giving every Dystopian book fan in the 2010s a reason to cry happy tears.
Avengers: Doomsday (18 December).
Fourteen months after the events of Thunderbolts the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and the "original" X-Men team up to face Doctor Doom aka Robert Downey Junior.
It’s the first Avengers film since Avengers: Endgame was released and took the world by storm in 2019. And it boasts an A-list cast with the likes of Vanessa Kirby, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Danny Ramirez, Ian McKellen and Alan Cumming.
