Netflix's First Australian Original "Tidelands" Is Out Today

If you're into sexy sirens and gritty crime, Tidelands is for you.
Today is 14 December, which means it's Happy Tidelands premiere Day. Tidelands, of course, being Netflix's first Australian original.
Fitting somewhere between an edgier H2O: Just Add Water and a quirkier True Blood, the new series follows the stories of the townsfolk of Orphelin Bay, a peculiar fishing town in North Queensland.
Alongside regular sweaty humans (it is North Queensland after all), there's a group of mysteriously beautiful hippies who call themselves Tidelanders. But like all aesthetically flawless people, they are not a force to be reckoned with.
While the reviews are mixed, there's a good reason to support Australian-produced Netflix originals. While other countries have legislation in place that requires Netflix to fund or display a certain amount of original content on the streaming site, Australia is a bit of a free-for-all.
Catch Tidelands on Netflix now.
