Nepal Struck By Another Devastating Earthquake

Nepal has been struck by a magnitude-7.4 earthquake, just weeks after it was devastated by a previous quake.

The US Geological Survey confirmed this most recent disaster, which was at first measured at 7.1 on the Richter scale before being upgraded.

Aftershocks of 5.6, 5.4 and 6.3 were registered 30 minutes later.

According to ABC News, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 19 kilometeres, 83 kilometeres east of Kathmandu.

This is relatively close to the base camp for Everest.

More than 8,000 people were killed in the April 25 quake - a magnitude-7.8 - while more than 17,800 were injured.

The cost of Nepal's reconstruction had already been estimated at $2 billion.
