My Chemical Romance Is Coming to Australia and We’re Not Okay

It’s time to get out the black eyeliner.

Don’t pretend like you’ve gotten over My Chemical Romance splitting up. Even though we’ve had six long years to come to terms with the band deciding to call it a day, it still hurts to think about it.

MCR announced their breakup in 2013, saying, "We’ve gotten to go places we never knew we would. We’ve been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We’ve shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends."

It was truly heart-wrenching.

Ever since the band parted ways, there’s been hope of a reunion. And now, killjoys are finally getting what they wished for. My Chemical Romance is back, and they’re coming to Australia.

In March next year, MCR will be heading down under for the Australian leg of Download music festival. Scheduled to play in Sydney and Melbourne, the band will give audiences the opportunity to listen to their greatness live for the first time in years. At the moment, it looks like these will be their only Australian shows.

Other bands playing at the festival include Jimmy Eat World, Deftones and heavy metal band Baroness.

The news comes after MCR announced that they would reunite for a show at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles on December 20. Unfortunately though, not all fans were able to grab a ticket. In fact, the gig sold out in three minutes.

My Chemical Romance will also be travelling to New Zealand in March 2020 to play at the Outer Fields in Western Springs.

Of course, these reunion shows beg the question: is My Chemical Romance back together and making music again?

Nothing has been confirmed at this stage, but an emo kid can only dream.
