Miniclip Is Officially Shutting Down

I’m not crying, you’re crying.

In some sad news, the nostalgia machine and iconic flash games site Miniclip is officially shutting down.

No more procrastinating in the library, no more browsing through the latest games, no more post-school fun.

The site has officially closed it’s doors, and will now only offer the games 8 Ball Pool and Agar.io.

Goodnight, sweet prince.

Why is it shutting down?

The main reason is that most Miniclip games were run through the Adobe Flash engine, which was shut down at the end of 2020. Games could be moved to a HTML5 format, but for some it just couldn’t happen.

There are also other factors, like young people having access to games on other devices and using web-based games less and less.

Miniclip was the host to some of the most iconic games ever, including Bubble Trouble, Bloons Tower Defence, Raft Wars and many more.

The news has hit the online community hard, with nostalgic players taking to twitter to share fond memories and hurt feelings.

Launched 21 years ago, the site was once one of the largest gaming platforms in the world, and has recently acquired a number of gaming studios, including SYBO, which developed Subway Surfers.

After announcing the change in April, the gaming servers officially went offline on Friday.

Miniclip is still gonna be around, but not in the way you know and love it. Instead, the company is shifting to a revenue-generating model and focusing on their mobile gaming market.

But for now, we want to remember Miniclip, the good times and all the nostalgia.
