"Minecraft" Players Get Your Headsets Ready Because VR is Coming to PS4 This Month

And it will be a free downloadable patch.
After constant requests from fans, PlayStation has finally caved and announced that Minecraft will be getting VR support in September—and in two different modes.

PlayStation made the announcement on their blog stating that nothing about the original and ever popular game has changed.
"It’s Minecraft, but in stellar VR. It is 100% the same Minecraft game that you can play every day, every week, every month, every year… on PlayStation 4. Nothing removed. 100% wholesome & pure full-fat Minecraft,” said PlayStation.
The new patch is set to arrive on PlayStation as a downloadable extra later this month but players who already have a PlayStation 4 and the Minecraft game will get the patch automatically for free.

You will of course need a PlayStation VR set up to use the new version of the game, but who are we kidding? You probably set that up ages ago.
The new VR version has two different modes that you can choose to play in, immersive or Living Room, but Mojang, the games developer, hasn’t given any details about how they will work.
While Minecraft has previously been released in VR on the Oculus Rift back in 2016, this is the first version to be made available for PlayStation players, meaning it’s a lot more accessible.

Since its original release in 2009, Minecraft still remains one of the top paid mobile games on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, and since Microsoft bought Mojang in 2014 the game has topped 200 million sales over all platforms.
The game has also seen a lot of success during the pandemic. While most of us were stuck inside trying to isolate, we were left to stay entertained by TV and gaming.
In April the game so a 25 per cent increase in new players and a 40 per cent increase in the number of people playing together.
While PlayStation has set the update release for this month, we don’t yet have an official date, so keep an eye open.
