Microsoft's New Toy Tries To Guess Your Age

“Shall we play a game?”

If you understood that reference, you are probably somewhere between thirty and one million years old.

Handily, Microsoft’s own new game, How-Old.net, is able to guess your age simply by looking at a photo, rather than by evaluating when exactly you watched a pre-Ferris Bueller Matthew Broderick talk to an Atari.

It also, perhaps even more perilously, has a stab at your gender.

Microsoft’s age-guessing algorithm was unveiled during the second day of the Build Developer Conference, and within hours the internet took to it with gusto (taking special delight whenever it guessed wrong).

Accuracy, the website warns, is not guaranteed. Personally, I stopped entering photos when the guesses only increased in age. A man can only handle so much realness.
