Mark Zuckerberg Just Lost $15 Billion, But How’s Your Day Going?

You know what’s cooler than losing $15 million?
We choked on our breakfast this morning when we read a gamer had lost $10,000 over two years from playing FIFA.
So, as you can imagine, we almost spat up our intestines when we read the eye-watering figure that was wiped from Mark Zuckerberg’s personal wealth in just one day: $US15 billion, or $AUD20.3 billion.
According to ABC News, his dip came from Facebook’s massive stumble in the U.S. stock market overnight.
The social media behemoth, of which Zuckerberg is CEO, lost $US119 billion ($AUD161 billion), marking one of the biggest single-day falls, ever.
Of course, they’re not clearing out desks at Facebook HQ just yet: the company went from being worth $US630 billion to a still mighty $US510 billion.
Nonetheless, the decline came as Facebook predicted lower profits over the next two years, in the wake of a privacy scandal that still threatens to erode trust in the platform (not to mention a slower rate of new sign-ups).
Though Zuckerberg is still worth about $US66 billion (and sits at #6 on the list of the world’s richest people), this news marks the latest bit of bad press for the beleaguered developer.
And to think, everyone figured he was gunning for a Presidential run in 2020. America would never elect a business failure!
