Mark McGowan and Scott Morrison, Please Let Josephine Langford Back into Western Australia

Mark McGowan and Scott Morrison, Please Let Josephine Langford Back into Western Australia

We must rectify this issue immediately.

For months, Australian states have been squabbling over whether they should reopen their borders. The debate has been understandably heated, considering coronavirus cases continue to be confirmed across the globe.

But a pressing new development on the issue has recently emerged. In fact, it's absolutely imperative that we call the national cabinet back for an emergency session.

Why? Because After We Collided star Josephine Langford cannot return home to Perth.

We learnt about this travesty when we caught up with the After We Collided cast for a chat about the sequel over Zoom. As Josephine told Student Edge, she is stuck in Los Angeles at the moment. The actress pointed out that she is unable to come home to Perth, Western Australia due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"Perth is doing amazingly," Josephine said.

"And I wish I could get in, and I can't."

Some Australian states have put limits on the number of international passengers that are allowed to arrive per week. For example, Western Australia is only allowing a maximum of 525 international passengers per week, or about 75 a day.

These restrictions have made it difficult for some overseas Australians, like Josephine, to return to the country.

While the actress didn't explain her personal situation any further, viewers quickly caught onto the fact that she's keen to return to her home town.

From there, the tweets to get Josephine back to Perth began flooding in.

Some fans have even called on Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison to let the actress back into the country.

Of course, WA Premier Mark McGowan would really be the one to decide whether Josephine could travel back into the state.

According to the WA government's website, exemptions to the state's hard border closure can be granted to any person performing a function under Commonwealth law, FIFO workers, and truck drivers who deliver goods to WA as part of their normal duties. Alas, Josephine doesn't fit any of these categories.

Plus, even if Josephine was let back into the state, she would need to quarantine for 14 days.

ScoMo and Mark McGowan, you have the fandom's demands.
