Listen to Lorde Tease Spooky New Music Ahead of Her Aussie Tour

And she’s already given us the year’s best album in Melodrama. We’re not worthy!

Former teen witch Lorde has kicked off her October (the spooookiest month) by teasing some moody new music.

On Twitter, she shared a video of a crack in the floor, over which you can hear her breathy vocals.

It’s definitely part of a produced track (and not some impromptu karaoke). The question is, is it a tease of a standalone new single? A Melodrama offcut that’ll make its way onto an upcoming Deluxe Edition?

Or—and this is probably a stretch—the first sounds off her upcoming third album?

Unfortunately, given Lorde’s penchant for mystery, we may not know the answer for some time. All she’s revealed on Twitter is that it’s “just an old melo sketch”. However, anyone who listened to the Song Exploder podcast where she explained the making of "Sober" knows this melody could come back at any moment, in a whole new guise.

Hopefully we can hear a little more when Lorde brings her Melodrama World Tour down under next month.
