Lili Reinhart from "Riverdale" Says a Former Colleague "Tried to Force Himself" On Her

"I'm coming forward about my own experience to further express how common these assaults are in this industry and how important it is that we take action to fight against it.”
Last week, high-powered producer Harvey Weinstein was brought down by two reports from the New Yorker and the New York Times, which revealed decades worth of sexual assault and rape allegations.
Following the bombshell, numerous actresses and women in the film and TV industry began speaking out against Weinstein, not to mention other harassers in the business and the culture that allowed them to thrive without consequence.
Now, Riverdale’s Lili Reinhart—aka Betty—has added her voice to the growing chorus, sharing to Tumblr a personal experience “where a man in a position of power” tried to “take advantage” of her, while working at another job.
“I’m not comfortable giving specific details about the situation because I don’t feel it’s necessary,” she wrote.
“All that matters is that he tried to force himself on me when we were on a date.”
Reinhart turned him down and asked to be driven home, though the man—who was “pretty significantly older than me”—took some time before following her request.
“The next day I tried to talk to him about the situation. I told him how uncomfortable it made me and how wrong it felt... This guy proceeded to tell me that it was my fault for leading him on. Saying that ‘I seemed like a sexual girl and that I’d be down for it.’ That I misled him.”
In closing, Reinhart explained why she decided to share her story.
"I believe in standing up for yourself as a woman and coming forward about sexual harassment," she wrote.
"I’m coming forward about my own experience to further express how common these assaults are in this industry and how important it is that we take action to fight against it."
