Katy Perry Stole Some Dude’s First Kiss on "American Idol" and He Did Not Like It

American Idol is back on television, realising/crushing dreams once again.

Its new panel of judges includes Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan and Katy Perry, who, you may remember, first arrived on the scene with the single “I Kissed a Girl”.

So, that was reason enough for Bryan to ask an auditioning 19-year-old named Benjamin Glaze if he’s ever kissed a girl and/or liked it.

It was then that Glaze revealed, Drew Barrymore style, he’d never actually been kissed.

"I can’t kiss a girl without being in a relationship," he said.

But Perry, misreading the room, invited him over for a kiss, and after receiving a gentle peck on the cheek, she surprised Glaze by turning suddenly and catching him on the lips.

Clearly uncomfortable but still a trooper, Glaze requested some water from Richie before continuing his audition.

Here’s Perry sharing an artist’s rendition of the encounter:

Though the episode only just aired in the United States, it was filmed several months ago.

Glaze has since told the New York Times he regretted the incident, saying, "I wanted to save it for my first relationship."

"I know a lot of guys would be like, 'Heck yeah!' But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and I was uncomfortable immediately.

"I wanted my first kiss to be special."

Though Glaze insists he does not feel he was sexually harassed, the kiss may have sparked memories of Adrien Brody winning the Oscar back in 2002, after which he ferociously—and grossly—pashed presenter Halle Berry to her surprise. Fifteen years later, Berry admitted thinking at the time, "What the f*** is happening?"

So, yeah, even though it shouldn't need to be said in this era of #MeToo, or ever, it's worth remembering: don’t kiss people who don’t want to be kissed.
