Katy Perry Is The Year's Most Financially Successful Musician... Not Taylor Swift

It doesn’t matter how many corporations Taylor Swift can bring to their knees, Katy Perry still holds the most cash.
Last week it was revealed Katy Perry was the most financially successful musician of the past year, trumping frenemy Taylor Swift.
The result marks a rare win for Katy Perry. The singer has taken a flogging in the court of public opinion lately, following the release of Swift's hit "Bad Blood", of which Perry is reportedly the subject.
Sorry Taylor. Money doesn't lie.

With earnings of US$135 million in the past calendar year, Perry handily defeated Swift, who managed a measly US$80 million over the same period.
Perry has marked the achievement by gracing the latest cover of Forbes magazine, which celebrates the richest celebrities of 2015. (And about time the richest celebrities get their due.)
Boxers Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao topped the chart with US$300 million and US$160 million respectively, thanks to their high-profile bout from earlier in the year.
Perry came in third overall, just ahead of One Direction.
Swift tied for eighth place on the list with Robert Downey Jr.
Forbes cites Perry’s international success and whopping 124 tour dates across 27 different countries as the main reason for her skyrocketing finances.
If Taylor wants to find a silver lining in this outcome, she can take solace in the fact she managed eighth place (as well as being the youngest person on Forbes' 100 Most Powerful Women list) without having to hit the pavement as hard as Katy.
